Navigare Capital was founded in 2017 by four experienced executives from the shipping industry

It is approved as an alternative investment fund manager by the Danish Financial Supervisory Authority and domiciled in Copenhagen

Our history

Navigare Capital was founded with the aim of providing investors with the opportunity to become part of accelerating the green transition of the maritime sector towards net zero. The strategy is to invest in a diversified portfolio of maritime assets with low correlation, providing attractive operating yield through long-term contract coverage and responsible financing with a clear focus on downside protection.

Navigare Capital was founded by Robert Maersk Uggla (CEO of A.P. Moller Holding) and four experienced executives from the shipping industry – Henrik Ramskov (Managing Partner), Stig Enslev, Lars Bagge Christensen and John Peter Boesen – and Maritime Investment Fund I was established.

Navigare Capital became a signatory of the Danish charter for more women in shipping and moved into its new offices at Strandvejen 70, Hellerup.

Navigare Capital became a signatory of the Principles for Responsible Investment, a mission ambassador to the Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller Center for Zero Carbon Shipping, and a member of the Maritime Anti-Corruption Network and BIMCO. Maritime Investment Fund I and II made their first divestments, while Navigare Capital collaborated with a third-party specialist to develop a catalogue of suitable energy-saving devices for each vessel in its portfolio.

  • Anders Windahl

    Partner

    Anders is responsible for business development and deal sourcing within the offshore wind shipping segments.

    Anders has extensive experience from the offshore wind industry and played an integral role in the green transformation at Ørsted, where he was responsible for numerous offshore wind auction bids and brought more than ten wind farms into operation, including the sourcing of SOVs from design to final agreement. Simultaneously, Anders supported the board of Global Greenergy in the development of a semi-sub installation vessel (The Moonraker). Anders has extensive leadership experience and was responsible for several strategic development initiatives at Ørsted to increase the quality of future wind parks. Prior to offshore wind, Anders worked with natural gas trading, responsible for optimisation of the gas portfolio at Ørsted. Before joining Ørsted, Anders was responsible for evaluating new oil fields and explorations around the world at Maersk Oil & Gas, including economic responsibility for the MOG Qatar and Algeria fields.

    Anders holds a Master’s in Economics from Odense University.

    Andreas works with financial analysis and risk assessment at Navigare Capital. He is also involved in investor reporting, gathering and structuring financial data into investor material and presentations.

    Before joining Navigare Capital, Andreas worked as a student assistant and completed an internship in the commercial department at BW Epic Kosan, where he gained insights into the daily operations and chartering of commercial gas carriers.

    Andreas holds a Master of Science in Economics and Business Administration with a specialisation in Finance and Investments (cand.merc.fin) from Copenhagen Business School and a Bachelor of Science in International Shipping and Trade. During his studies, he spent a semester at Singapore Management University.

    Anne-Sofie is responsible for compliance and risk management in Navigare Capital.

    Anne-Sofie has been working with financial regulation throughout her entire career and has specialised in combating risks related to financial crime. Before joining Navigare Capital, Anne-Sofie worked at Nordea as Master Expert in KYC Risk Management, taking lead on various projects such as updates to guidance, instructions and processes to ensure compliance with regulation and closure of identified risks and gaps. Prior to that, Anne-Sofie worked at Danske Bank as Senior Compliance Officer in Financial Crime Compliance Advisory for Large Corporations and Institutions, dealing with compliance risk and requirements related to handling of large companies and financial institutions as customers. Before Danske Bank, Anne-Sofie worked as a consultant at Ernest & Young in its Financial Service Advisory team, advising financial institutions on how to comply with regulation on e.g. capital requirements and risk related to financial crime. Anne-Sofie has an in-depth understanding of the financial regulation and risks associated with the financial sector.

    Anne-Sofie holds a Master of Science in Business Administration and Commercial Law (cand.merc.jur.) from Copenhagen Business School (CBS). In addition, Anne-Sofie holds an International Diploma in Anti Money Laundering from the International Compliance Association (ICA).
  • Christina Andersen

    Finance and Accounting Director

    Christina is responsible for financial accounting of the funds and Navigare Capital, ensuring the implementation of proper accounting and internal control processes in line with international standards and accounting principles.

    Christina has more than 30 years of experience in auditing and financial accounting in and outside the financial sector. She is qualified as an auditor and worked with external auditing at Deloitte for 12 years, followed by ten years at Nykredit Realkredit (a Danish mortgage company), first as an internal auditor and later as a senior analyst in Group Finance. Subsequently, Christina worked for three years in Group Finance at PFA Pension, specialising in alternative investments. Most recently, Christina worked as CFO/Head of Finance and Administration for an insurance company before joining the Navigare Capital team.

    Christina holds a master’s degree in Business Economics and Auditing from Copenhagen Business School.

    Emma is involved in reporting on Navigare Capital’s ESG performance, including contributing to the annual sustainability report. She assists in assessing the impacts of Navigare Capital’s operations and initiatives to improve the sustainability performance of its fleet.

    Before joining Navigare Capital, Emma held various roles in editorial and marketing within the architecture and design fields in the US and Denmark, including at The Architect’s Newspaper, Henning Larsen Architects and Louis Poulsen.

    Emma holds a Bachelor of Arts from Bennington College and is currently completing her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Sociology from Copenhagen Business School.

    Esben has more than 30 years of experience in internal auditing and compliance in the financial sector. Before joining Navigare Capital, Esben worked at Danske Bank, where he was First Vice President and Head of Audit Systems and Internal Investigations. Subsequently, he worked as Senior Manager within Group Compliance and Anti-money Laundering in Group Financial Crime. Before Esben joined Danske Bank, he worked as an external auditor.

    Esben holds a Master of Science in Business Administration and Auditing (cand.merc.aud) from Aarhus School of Business.

    Harry is responsible for the technical management of Navigare Capital’s fleet within the tanker, LNG, Ro-Ro, container and dry cargo segments, including all day-to-day matters and engagement with the vessels’ technical managers and other key stakeholders.

    Harry has over 20 years of shipping experience within different segments. Before joining Navigare Capital, he worked for nine years as Head of Technical Departments at BW Dry Cargo/CCP and Lauritzen Bulkers. Harry has hands-on experience with supervising container and tanker newbuildings, having been based in Japan and South Korea for four years. He later handled newbuilding project management from Copenhagen for BW Dry Cargo and Lauritzen Bulkers for dry cargo vessels in China, Japan and the Philippines. He also has extensive experience with BWTS and scrubber retrofits in China.

    Harry holds a Master of Science and Bachelor of Engineering in Naval Architecture from Newcastle University, UK, and is a Chartered Engineer (CEng) with the Royal Institution of Naval Architects in London.

    Henrik is responsible for the overall management of Navigare Capital, including execution of the strategy, business development and investor relations.

    Henrik has more than 25 years of experience in the shipping and supply chain sectors within M&A, asset acquisition, asset management and logistics. Before establishing Navigare Capital with the other Partners, he held CEO and COO positions in the A.P. Moller-Maersk Group. Henrik was based in Asia for 11 years with Maersk Logistics & Damco and later as global CEO of the company. At Maersk Tankers, he was COO with a fleet of more than 250 crude tankers, product tankers and gas carriers, where he was responsible for more than 40 acquisition and exit transactions of product tankers, crude tankers and gas carriers.

    From his time at A.P. Moller-Maersk, Henrik has extensive leadership experience within strategic management, shipping, supply chain management, asset investments and optimisation of large-scale investments and complex projects.

    Henrik holds an MBA from IMD, Switzerland, and has completed management programmes at Harvard Business School, INSEAD, Cranfield and Stanford University.

    Jeanette is responsible for office and administrative support in Navigare Capital, including overseeing IT security and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), to prevent IT security incidents and ensure personal data is managed appropriately.

    Jeanette has over 25 years of experience in office administration within the shipping industry. After completing a traineeship at Maersk Group, Jeanette held a range of coordinator and administrative positions in training, compliance and brand and marketing at companies including A.P Moller – Maersk and Maersk Supply Service. Before joining the Navigare Capital team, she worked as a project coordinator and office manager at an engineering company.

    Jeanette is highly experienced in executing IT and digital projects, as well as organising large-scale events and seafarer training.

    John is responsible for all asset financing, structuring and risk management in Navigare Capital. Furthermore, he is responsible for all counterparty assessment and deal origination from financial institutions.

    John has more than 25 years of experience from the financial sector and was based in Singapore and New York for five years. John is highly experienced in all aspects of ship financing, risk management and structuring of complex commercial and financial transactions and has, throughout his career, executed more than 100 transactions. Before establishing Navigare Capital with the other Partners, John worked for Nordea as Director responsible for major listed and unlisted companies within the maritime transportation sector.

    John has significant experience in asset acquisition transactions and restructuring of both listed and unlisted companies in the maritime sector, including Chapter 11s.

    John holds a bachelor’s degree in Financing & Credit (HD) from Copenhagen Business School and has completed management programmes at INSEAD.

    Lars has more than 30 years of experience in shipping, having worked for both an asset owner and a pure operator. Lars has extensive leadership experience in large shipping companies and has been based in the US. Before establishing Navigare Capital with the other partners, Lars worked for A.P. Moller-Maersk and DS Norden. At DS Norden, he was Executive Vice President and was responsible for building the tanker business from a startup into one of the leading product tanker companies globally. During his 14 years as EVP for the tanker division, Lars expanded the company’s activity and revenue tenfold via organic growth, and made more than 40 acquisition and exit transactions of product tankers.

    Lars has significant hands-on experience in asset acquisition, operations, and legal and insurance matters in the maritime sector, the latter as former vice chairman of the North of England P&I Club and former chairman of the Risk Committee.

    Lars has a shipping degree from A.P. Moller-Maersk and has completed management programmes at INSEAD and Wharton.

    Line has more than 15 years of shipping experience from diverse operational backgrounds and strategic projects. Before joining Navigare Capital, Line was team leader and headed process optimisation at a health insurance company with a focus on developing customer service and implementing new IT systems, including AI solutions. Prior to that, she worked as team leader and Senior Operations and Demurrage Manager at TORM and in operations at DFDS – two of the leading companies in their respective areas. Line has deep hands-on operational and claims-handling experience and insight across shipping segments.

    Line has completed leadership, optimisation and resource management programmes at Copenhagen Business School and CFL, and internally at TORM and DFDS.

    Line has almost 25 years of shipping experience within tanker operations and dry cargo chartering and operations. Before joining Navigare Capital, she held senior positions in operations with Maersk Tankers, one of the leading product tanker companies globally, working with different types of tanker and gas segments, as well as projects and training related to IT, processes and cost optimisation. Before that, Line worked at EDF Trading in London as a dry cargo freight trader. Line has deep hands-on operational and marine insurance and claims experience and insight across shipping segments.

    Line holds a Graduate Diploma in Business Administration (HD Finance) from Copenhagen Business School, a Postgraduate Diploma in International Maritime Law from WMU and a Derivatives Certificate from the London Securities and Investment Institute.

    Livia has more than ten years of experience from the shipping industry, mainly in the tanker sector. Before joining Navigare Capital, she worked for ten years at Petrobras in Brazil. For six years, she worked as a shipping analyst, working with short- and long-term market analysis and forecasts for tanker markets. She has also experience operating in these markets as a chartering manager and additional experience from the breakbulk sector, working for UAL's commercial agent in Denmark.

    Livia trained as a shipping analyst at the Petrobras Academy and has a Master of Science degree and a Doctorate in Economics from Universidade Federal Fluminense in Brazil.
  • Mads Svensson

    Mads is responsible for matters related to the offshore wind fleet, spanning new business opportunities, vessel design, and operational matters including technical management of the fleet of offshore wind vessels.

    Mads has more than 20 years of shipping experience, the majority of which has been in the offshore segment. Before joining Navigare Capital, Mads worked as a ship and marine surveyor, responsible for the Nordics and Baltics, with one of the IACS-approved classification societies, Nippon Kaiji Kyokai, conducting class surveys and audits of different types of vessels. Prior to that, he worked with A.P. Moller-Maersk in the offshore and container segments. Mads has deep technical and operational hands-on experience across several shipping segments, in particular working with newbuilding projects from idea to design and development, project execution and construction. With his background in offshore marine operation, he has vast experience with different vessel types used in the offshore wind market.

    Mads became Chief Officer and Second Engineer through a cadetship with A.P. Moller-Maersk. He holds a degree as Master Mariner and a degree as Chief Engineer, as well as being a certified ship surveyor.

    Martin has more than 20 years of experience in investment analysis and financial reporting, and more than ten years of experience working specifically within investor relations. Martin has experience from different sectors, including the energy sector, especially renewable energy, as well as banking and insurance, technology and consumer electronics. Before Navigare Capital, Martin headed up investor relations in the Danish luxury audio company Bang & Olufsen.

    Martin holds a Master of Science (MSc) in Economics and Business Administration, Accounting and Finance from Copenhagen Business School.

    Max has more than 25 years’ experience in shipping, from the asset-owning side, from liner operators and from the broker industry. He has worked abroad in the US and Dubai for Maersk Line and in Hamburg, where he was Managing Director for Maersk Broker Germany. Max also worked for Maersk Broker in Copenhagen for more than ten years in various positions, including as Director for competitive container chartering. He also headed up the exclusive tonnage desk, expanding the fleet of container vessels in commercial management with Maersk Broker. On the asset-owning side, Max has been Director for a Danish owner of container vessels and dry cargo vessels, and participated in more than 30 acquisitions and sales of the company’s fleet. Before joining Navigare Capital, Max was Group Fleet Director at Unifeeder, where he was responsible for all chartering, sale and purchase, and insurance of the group’s container vessel fleet worldwide.

    Max has in-depth and hands-on shipping knowledge of chartering, asset acquisition, operations, and legal and insurance matters.

    Max has a shipping degree from A.P. Moller-Maersk and has completed a number of management courses.

    Mette has more than ten years of working experience, mainly from the shipping industry. Prior to working with sustainability and ESG, she worked in market research. Before joining Navigare Capital, Mette worked at Novozymes, the global leader within enzyme production, as a senior analyst. Prior to that, she worked at Danish Ship Finance as a senior analyst and at leading shipping company DS Norden as an analyst within research and investor relations, conducting market research and participating in roadshows and investor meetings. Mette has in-depth knowledge of the shipping industry and a deep understanding of the challenges lying ahead.

    Mette holds a Master of Science in Economics and Management (cand.oecon) from Aarhus University.

    Miaojia has almost 20 years of shipping and research experience from various organisations and shipping markets. Prior to joining Navigare Capital, she worked at Maersk Broker and Ultrabulk as Senior Research Manager and Business Analyst, respectively, conducting research on the container and dry bulk markets. Prior to joining Navigare Capital, Miaojia also held various positions at BIMCO, Erasmus University Rotterdam, University of Southern Denmark and UNCTAD. She has in-depth knowledge of the key shipping markets and their underlying demand drivers, as well as extensive insight into global trade.

    Miaojia holds a Master of Science in Transport Planning and Management from Dalian Maritime University in China and a PhD in Maritime Economics from Kobe University in Japan.

    Peter is responsible for the financial control of the funds, along with control of the KPIs reported in the annual Sustainability Report.

    Peter has more than eight years’ experience in finance and accounting. Before joining Navigare Capital, Peter worked at Sunstone Life Science Ventures and Heartcore Capital, where he focused on bookkeeping duties, including proper recording of financial transactions. Peter was also responsible for fund reporting, classifying financial and accounting data pertaining to matters such as cash receipts, expenditure, accounts payable and receivable, and profits and losses. Prior to that, Peter was employed within the stamp industry for ten years, where he was responsible for valuation, trading and administration.

    Peter holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Business Administration (BSc EBA) and a Master’s degree in Finance and Accounting (MSc), both from Copenhagen Business School (CBS).

    Stig is responsible for deal sourcing across various segments in Navigare Capital. He also has overall responsibility for the technical management of all the assets in the Funds.

    Stig has more than 30 years of experience in shipping and logistics, both on the asset-owning side and the broker side, thus gaining both perspectives. This extensive experience includes more than 50 acquisition and exit transactions of container vessels and offshore support vessels. Stig has extensive leadership experience across businesses and industries and was based in the US and the UK for eight years. Before establishing Navigare Capital with the other partners, Stig worked for A.P. Moller-Maersk, DFDS and Arrow Electronics (NYSE: ARW), where he was Corporate Vice President, responsible for Strategy & Business Development.

    Stig has in-depth and hands-on shipping experience through working with chartering, operations, asset acquisition, asset management and M&A.

    Stig has a shipping degree from A.P. Moller-Maersk and holds a bachelor’s degree in International Commerce (HD) and an MBA from Copenhagen Business School, and has completed management programmes at Harvard Business School and Cambridge University. Stig is a member of the Representative Committee of the Britannia P&I Club.
  • Thomas Lund

    Thomas has 20 years of experience from investment banking and corporate positions, and he has worked on a wide range of M&A, equity and debt capital market transactions. Prior to joining Navigare Capital in 2017, Thomas held the position of Programme Financial Manager in Ørsted, working with the commercial development and financial management of large offshore wind investment projects. Thomas has extensive experience in financial analysis, asset investments, financial structuring and M&A.

    Thomas holds a Master of Science in Statistics and Mathematical Finance from Copenhagen Business School and is a CFA charter holder.
  • Tobias Børglum

    Tobias is involved with financial analysis, investor reporting and risk assessment in Navigare Capital. He has three years of private equity experience, gaining extensive capabilities in the context of investment analysis and financial modelling.

    Tobias completed an internship at Navigare Capital as a part of his bachelor’s degree. After completing the internship, he was hired as a student assistant and later as an investment analyst.

    Tobias holds a Master of Science in Economics and Business Administration – Finance and Investments (cand.merc.fin) from Copenhagen Business School. During his bachelor’s degree, Tobias spent a semester at Texas A&M University.
