Shipping constitutes a critical link in the global supply chain, and is therefore well placed to facilitate sustainable transition through international trade. Navigare Capital recognises the importance of this and is taking the opportunity to play an active role in the green transition of the shipping industry. Thus, Navigare Capital is committed to reaching net zero greenhouse gas (“GHG”) emissions by 2050.

Despite being the most energy-efficient form of transport, the shipping industry accounts for 3% of global GHG emissions – owing to the sheer size of trade each year – and with trade expected to increase for many years to come, there is a risk that greenhouse gas ("GHG") emissions from shipping will increase further. Hence, as shipping remains vital for global trade, and as the maritime infrastructure cannot be switched to other modes of transport without increasing GHG emissions significantly, Navigare Capital recognises the importance of decarbonising the shipping sector to help reach the goals set by the Paris Agreement.
